Sustainability Social

Our host communities are a major stakeholder group in our operations and their overall development and advancement is of great benefit to our operations. We consider our hosts to be our partners and we work with them to establish mutually beneficial development initiatives and programs across all sectors of the community.

The sustenance of all our achievements over the years is dependent on our adherence to the ethical standards that we have set and the way we have chosen to conduct all our operations. We intend to continually promote global best practices in our business conduct and ethics.

Capacity Development

Merciport has a strong partnership with ‘The Shunammite Foundation’ to which we have enhanced the lives of a lot people by instilling in them the foundational skills and empowering them with the tools needed to build and grow and be economically independent.

Shunammite Foundation’s skill acquisition programs are designed to provide a platform to train & educate marginalized and vulnerable Nigerian Youths on skills that help create wealth. The foundation has helped over hundreds of marginalized and vulnerable youths in acquiring various knowledge and skills through its programs. One of such program is the ‘Project Profitable Labour’ which is fully sponsored by Merciport. The beneficiaries, who are pooled through a transparent process, are trained in highly professional and reputable vocational centers in Nigeria such as:

  • House of Tara International
  • Valerie Davids School of Fashion
  • Orange Academy
  • Angel Cakes
  • PEFTI Film Institute by the renowned Wale Adenuga, etc.

Shunammite’ Capacity Building enables people and marginalised communities to strengthen their capabilities to develop, implement and maintain effectiveness of their leadership potential. The programs also provide guidance and support on preventing and responding to conflicts and other humanitarian emergencies.

The Foundation also stimulates and empowers women to achieve financial stability by giving support funds to start or improve retail businesses which in a way reduces the poverty level of each of the identified marginalized households.

Human Rights

Shunammite Foundation has been involved in the fight for human dignity. The foundation has helped countless women and children and communities in providing relief and shelter in some cases. Also, it has helped in child abuse cases and have been involved by supporting several government agencies and organizations in the prosecution of child abuse offenders in the law courts. The Foundation also supports the fight against public extrajudicial killings (“jungle justice”) in Nigeria by supporting awareness and promotion of the Rule of Law through several advocacy and educational programs and tools.
