The protection of our environment is a critical aspect of our operations as inherent in our core activities is a greater risk of damage to the environment. This is further complicated by the threat of sabotage and oil theft through bunkering and other illegal activities around the sector of operations. At Merciport we ensure full and strict compliance with all regulatory laws and guidance in our sector of operations. Our aim is to promote and deploy innovative solutions that align with international best practices to meet the energy needs of our modern society with the least damage to the environment from which we derive the natural resources.

Water and Air Quality

Proper utilization and management of our natural resources; including water and air, is critical to our business sustainability. We remain well within the agreed regulatory limits on water and air quality while we seek ways to reduce our ecological footprint.

Waste Management

Waste generation is a direct consequence of all human activities. Our goal is to ensure the proper management of waste generated from our operations to prevent such negative environmental catastrophes as pollution, contamination and other forms of environmental degradation. We continue to manage this through our observance of the 5 R's (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle) waste management technique.

Work Environment & Customer Safety

Our Operations Department thoroughly addresses the safety, health, environmental and compliance issues relating to natural gas with proper hazard identification processes. End users are also provided with a detailed certificate of analysis for all supplied gas.

Within the year under review, the division had no recorded case of incidents of non-compliance with regulations and voluntary codes concerning the health and safety impacts of products and services. The company is ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified, as such, all safety and environmental aspects are duly monitored, audited and reported. ISO 9001 is a quality management certification; ISO 14001 is an environmental management certification while OHSAS 18001 is an occupational health and safety management certification. These standards are internationally recognized and applied by companies worldwide.
