Merciport was born out of the a need to fill a gap in the oil ad gas industry which was caused by customers who were dissatisfied with the prevalentsituation where they pay for services and products which are not delivered.
We at Merciport stepped in to fill that gap. Over the years, we have made ourselves the defacto choice for customers looking to meet targets by ensuring products and services are delivered on demand and on time.
We are involved in bulk purchasing of petroleum products, including Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK). These products are retailed to clients (individuals and companies) at the depot and also through Retail Local Purchasing Orders.
Since commencing operations in 2007, Merciport has been able to record consistent growth in operations and market share acquiring over 100 clients in the first year of operation and growing revenue in the first three years in spite of massive market decline as a result of the global economic meltdown and crisis in the Nigerian banking sector.
In 2012, the company reorganized its operations and structure to adopt a more efficient business model that has ensured consistent growth and increased demands by clients.
With considerable experience throughout the downstream petroleum lifecycle, Merciport is poised to diversify into gas storage and distribution, deepen regional expansion and foray into upstream operations.
Mrs. Rita James set up Merciport Resources Limited in 2007. Under her direction, the company has grown to become a well-known brand in the industry.
Prior to Merciport, she pioneered the set-up of Nepal Oil & Gas Services Limited, a downstream oil and gas marketing company, with headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos. As the pioneer General Manager, she steered the ship of the organisation to an enviable feat, before leaving to set-up her own business.
Mrs Rita James holds a first degree in Agricultural Economics and has attended several trainings and seminars both locally and internationally including Lagos Business School, London Business School and Harvard. In recognition of her business drive and contribution to the economy, she was nominated for the Masters Category, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014.
Uzoamaka Okafor is the Office Administrator of Merciport Resources Limited. She graduated from the University of Lagos with a Second Class Upper degree in History & Strategic Studies. She also has an M.A in international Relations from University of Westminster, U.K. She runs the office front of the business, ensuring our day to day business goes unhindered and has proven herself to be capable of running the company in the absence of the MD efficiently and effectively.
Abiola is a graduate of University of Ibadan with a B.Sc. in Agricultural & Environmental Engineering.
He heads the company’s operations activities in Lagos. Since joining the company in 2010, his doggedness has been seen in ensuring that all operation activities of the company are channeled towards achieving Merciport Resources vision.
